Georgia homeowner acts in what he THINKS is lawful “home defense,” but actually commits a ton of crimes in the process–as well as making tactically poor decisions.

Sounded like you were saying the homeowner was the first person to use or threaten the use of deadly force. I didn’t see that on the video.
If the trespasser and apparent thief was armed and opened fire on the homeowner before the homeowner opened fire on him, the homeowner was justified in using deadly force in self defense. The homeowner had a right to be where he was on his own property, had a right to be armed for the purposes of self defense, had a right to confront the trespasser or thief, and a right to use deadly force upon the trespasser or thief in self defense when the trespasser or thief began attacking him with deadly force.
I would agree that arming himself and going outside to confront an armed trespasser or trespassers wasn’t very smart. Had a couple of members of my extended family lose their lives that way just a couple of years ago. The hard part of self defense is you are always one step behind the aggressor, and when the aggressor starts out with a use of deadly force you don’t have much of a chance to defend at all.
